The USDT Guide — Buy, Store and Play With Tether

The stablecoin most crypto players actually gamble with. Here is where to buy USDT, why the network you choose matters more than the exchange, which wallet to use, and how to fund any USDT casino in under a minute.

What is USDT?

USDT, issued by Tether, is a token pegged to one US dollar. It is not its own blockchain — the same USDT exists on TRON, Ethereum, Solana and several other networks, and the version you hold is defined by the chain it sits on.

For gambling that peg is the whole point. A Bitcoin balance can lose ten percent while you are still clearing a bonus; a USDT balance is worth the same dollars when you cash out as when you deposited. Add sub-dollar transfer fees on TRON and near-instant settlement, and it becomes the default currency for players who want the crypto rails without the price risk.

How to buy USDT in five steps

1

Pick an exchange that lists USDT

Kraken, Bybit, OKX and Binance all trade USDT against major currencies. Check that your country's payment methods are supported before signing up.

2

Verify your identity

Centralised exchanges require ID to comply with anti-money-laundering rules. Have a passport or driving licence and a proof of address ready; approval usually takes minutes.

3

Deposit fiat or swap an existing coin

Bank transfer is cheapest. If you already hold BTC or ETH, swapping into USDT on the spot market avoids the fiat rails entirely.

4

Buy USDT — and mind the network

USDT is a token that exists on several chains. When withdrawing, you choose TRON (TRC-20), Ethereum (ERC-20), Solana or another network. TRON is the cheapest for casino play.

5

Withdraw to your own wallet

Send the USDT to Trust Wallet, MetaMask, Phantom or a hardware wallet, matching the network you selected. Keep a small amount of the chain's native coin for fees.

Choosing a USDT exchange

  • Support for the network you intend to withdraw on — TRC-20 at minimum
  • A named licence or registration you can verify
  • Published USDT withdrawal fees and minimums for each network
  • Proof of reserves or an audited attestation of customer balances
  • Your local currency and payment method accepted for deposits
  • App-based or hardware-key two-factor authentication, never SMS only

Withdrawal fees vary wildly by network on the same exchange: the identical USDT can cost $1 on TRON and $15 on Ethereum. Always check the fee on the withdrawal screen before confirming.

USDT wallets explained

Trust Wallet

Mobile, multi-chain

Handles TRON, Ethereum, Solana and BNB USDT in one app and labels each balance by network — which prevents the most expensive mistake in this guide.

MetaMask

Browser and mobile

Best for ERC-20 USDT and Layer 2s. Does not support TRON, so pair it with another wallet if you plan to use TRC-20.

Phantom

Solana and multi-chain

The right choice for USDT on Solana, where transfers cost a fraction of a cent and settle instantly.

Hardware wallet

Ledger, Trezor

Keys stay offline and it pairs with the software wallets above. Worth it for any balance you would be upset to lose.

Keeping your coins safe

Confirm the network twice

Sending TRC-20 USDT to an ERC-20 address, or the reverse, usually loses the funds permanently. This is the number one cause of lost stablecoin deposits.

Keep gas in the same wallet

You need TRX, ETH or SOL alongside the USDT to pay the transfer fee. A wallet holding only USDT cannot move it.

Back up your seed phrase offline

On paper or steel, somewhere only you can reach. Never a photo, never a cloud note, never typed into a website.

Verify addresses character by character

Clipboard-hijacking malware swaps addresses silently. Check the first four and last four characters before you confirm.

Send a test transaction first

For a large transfer, send a small amount, confirm it lands, then send the rest. The fee is a dollar; the mistake is not.

Fees, networks and confirmations

TRON (TRC-20)

Around $1 or less per transfer, settling in seconds. The cheapest and most widely accepted network for casino deposits.

Ethereum (ERC-20)

Paid in ETH gas, typically $2–15 depending on congestion. Widely supported but rarely the right choice for routine deposits.

Solana

A fraction of a cent, confirmed almost instantly. Excellent where the casino lists it.

Confirmations

Most casinos credit USDT after one to a handful of confirmations, which on TRON or Solana means under a minute.

Depositing USDT at a casino

  1. Open the casino's wallet screen and choose USDT, then select the network — TRC-20 where offered.
  2. Copy the address shown or scan the QR code; never retype it.
  3. Switch your wallet to the exact same network before composing the transfer.
  4. Check you hold enough TRX, ETH or SOL to cover the fee, then verify the first and last four address characters.
  5. Send and wait — TRON and Solana credit in seconds, Ethereum in a couple of minutes.

USDT guide FAQ

What is USDT and how is it different from Bitcoin?
USDT, or Tether, is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of one US dollar. Unlike Bitcoin, its price does not swing, so a casino balance stays worth the same from deposit to cashout. It is a token issued on several blockchains rather than a chain of its own.
Should I use TRC-20 or ERC-20 USDT?
TRC-20 — USDT on the TRON network — is the standard for casino play because transfers cost around a dollar or less and settle in seconds. ERC-20 USDT on Ethereum is more widely supported by exchanges but costs more in gas. Always pick the network the casino lists.
What happens if I send USDT on the wrong network?
The funds go to an address the recipient may not control on that chain, and in most cases they are unrecoverable. Match the network on your sending wallet to the one shown on the casino's deposit screen every single time.
Do I need TRX or ETH to send USDT?
Yes. USDT is a token, so the fee is paid in the host chain's native coin — TRX on TRON, ETH on Ethereum, SOL on Solana. Keep a small buffer of that coin in the same wallet or your transfer will fail.
What is the best USDT wallet?
Trust Wallet and MetaMask cover most networks for everyday use, Phantom handles Solana USDT, and a Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet is the right home for larger balances. Choose one that clearly shows which network a balance is on.
Is USDT safe to gamble with?
For the purpose of holding value between bets, yes — it removes price swings from your bankroll, which is exactly what most players want. The usual caveats about the issuer's reserves apply to long-term holding, not to a balance you play and cash out within days.
How fast are USDT casino deposits?
On TRON or Solana, seconds to a minute. On Ethereum, a couple of minutes. Most casinos credit after one to a handful of confirmations, making USDT one of the fastest funding options available.
Which casinos accept USDT?
Nearly all crypto casinos do, and our best USDT casinos ranking covers the operators with the lowest minimums, fastest crediting and cleanest bonus terms for stablecoin players.
